Boise State at Gonzaga
Gonzaga (6-3) takes on the Broncos (3-7) of the Big Sky Conference at 7 p.m. in the Martin Centre.
At a glance This is the first contest in a three-games-in-five-day stretch for the Bulldogs, who are coming off a narrow loss to Washington in Saturday’s title game of the U.S. West Cellular Classic in Seattle. The Broncos have struggled this season, with their seven losses including one to Lewis-Clark State by 14 points. “It’s been kind of funny for them, they beat Nevada but lose to LC State at their place,” said GU coach Dan Fitzgerald. One thing GU must do is improve its shooting. Awful shooting percentages from the field and from the line doomed the Bulldogs against Washington. In their six wins, the Bulldogs have shot better than 50 percent, while falling below that figure in all three losses. To that end, Fitzgerald will move Jon Kinloch to the off-guard spot and insert Mike Leasure into the starting lineup. Kevin Williams will take a seat at the start of this one. “We’re played well at four positions but not got much from the other spot,” Fitzgerald said. “I’m not down on the guys (at off-guard) because they’re playing hard, but we need to try something.”
