Coeur D’Alene Man Forced To Give Up His Car

A Coeur d’Alene resident was walking toward his car along Sherman Avenue Friday night when a man approached and demanded the keys to the 1994 Toyota Camry.

John Helmbrech then watched the carjacker, and the woman with him, roll away in Helmbrech’s dark green four-door.

Police said the thief acted as if he had a weapon, but whether he actually did remains unclear. He was described as a 25-year-old white man in a leather jacket. There was no description of the woman.

Stolen at 8:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of Sherman Avenue, the car was last seen heading north out of the city.
