Earnhardt To Stay Aboard

Compiled From Wire Services

Moving to quiet speculation about his possible retirement, Dale Earnhardt agreed to a contract extension with Richard Childress that commits him to driving on the Winston Cup circuit through 2000.

Scott Goodyear, whose penalty in the closing laps of last year’s Indianapolis 500 cost him a chance for victory, will not race at the Speedway in 1996.

The runner-up to Al Unser Jr. in 1992, the closest Indy finish in history, and a front-row starter a year ago, Goodyear will drive the full IndyCar series this year with Walker Racing, including the U.S. 500 in Michigan on the same day as the Indy 500 on May 26.
