Center Pointe Fund-Raiser Aids Disabled Adults

A local non-profit agency that helps disabled adults is holding its second annual fund-raising dinner on Saturday. Center Pointe, 1408 N. Washington, offers classes for adults with all types of disabilities.

“An Evening With the Winemaker” will feature a five-course gourmet dinner with complimentary wine served during each course. Mike Conway from the Latah Creek Winery will speak.

The center, a United Way agency, offers a variety of classes, including reading, geography, ceramics and basket weaving. And, every Friday, a group of blind people come there to dance. Some 250 people, mostly low-income, are served each week at the center. Volunteers teach nearly all classes.

Center Pointe raises money through bazaars and donations, but the dinner is its most significant fund-raiser, says Joan Harris, program volunteer coordinator.

Dinner costs $75, of which $45 is tax deductible. Tickets must be purchased by 5 p.m. Tuesday. All proceeds will benefit Center Pointe.

For tickets or more information, call Center Pointe at 325-5451.
