Pirate Women Warm Up To Win

Whitworth used an 11-0 run to start the second half en route to a 65-33 women’s basketball win over the Whitman Missionaries Tuesday night at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

After shooting just 36 percent the first half, the Pirates (3-10 overall, 1-2 Northwest Conference) started the second half hot.

Jennifer Tissue (18 points), Sherri Northington (16), Malie Elliot (8) and Rebecca Moore (13) scored the majority of the points in a 23-7 run that allowed Whitworth to build a 46-26 lead.

Whitman (6-6, 1-2) was led by Amanda Bradford’s eight points.

Whitworth was coming off two weekend losses at home.

The Pirates take to the road this weekend, visiting Pacific on Friday and George Fox on Saturday night.
