Man Allegedly Harassed Woman On Bus

Compiled From Wire Services

A 40-year-old Spokane man was in jail Monday after allegedly harassing a woman at the downtown bus station and following her on a bus to the Valley.

Spokane County sheriff’s deputies arrested Juan Antonio DelgadoHernandez, 9310 E. Montgomery, on Saturday evening. He was jailed Monday in lieu of $10,000 bail on a charge of forcible indecent liberties.

A 19-year-old woman told police a man approached her about 5 p.m. as she waited for a bus. She said the man started talking to her and touching her. She told the man several times to stop.

At 5:17 p.m., the woman said the man followed her onto the bus and sat next to her. He allegedly made sexual advances to the woman, who told him to stop. When she stood up to move, she was forced back into her seat, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman got off the bus at Mission and Felts, and the man again followed her. She ran toward her home, screaming for help, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded and arrested Delgado-Hernandez.

Sheriff’s Detective Jerry Hendren is asking for help finding a witness on the bus. The white woman was described as being in her 40s or 50s with shoulder-length gray hair and glasses. She reportedly asked the victim, who wore a flowered print dress, if she was OK.

Any witnesses are asked to call 458-6620.
