Elementary Students To Get Lessons In Good Manners

Spokane School District 81 is writing lessons for elementary school students on solving conflicts, controlling anger and basic manners such as how to apologize.

The program, called “180 Lessons for Daily Living at School,” will be tested in one or two schools next school year. The schools have not been selected.

Set up for teachers to give one short lesson each day, the program will cut duplication of other programs now taught in Spokane schools, district officials said.

The program stresses communication and calmly making decisions.

The program was one of many school-safety efforts highlighted at a Spokane School Board meeting Wednesday.
