Kmc Comes To Aid Of Youth Hotline
Kootenai Medical Center’s Health Resource Center is donating an office, phone line and copy services to a struggling youth hotline in Coeur d’Alene.
The Youth Help Line has been seeking donations and volunteers to help keep its services available.
The non-profit organization offers crisis intervention, information and referral to teens and parents in Kootenai County. The telephone line is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The hospital offered office space to the organization after hearing about the Youth Help Line’s needs. The donation will decrease the hotline’s costs by about $2,400 per year, said Laura Watkins, executive director of Youth Help Line.
Watkins thanked both the hospital and the other people who responded to a plea for help after reading an article about the Youth Help Line in The Spokesman-Review.
The organization still is seeking help. Any one wanting to be a volunteer can call 664-3178. Donations can be sent to the Youth Help Line at P.O. Box 1232, Coeur d’Alene 83814.
Any teen needing someone to talk to can call the line at 765-TEEN.
