Borg A Target In ‘Trek’ Film

The new “Star Trek” movie won’t be out till Thanksgiving, but an early look at the script reveals that “Star Trek VIII: First Contact” is going to be a cross between “Die Hard” and “The Time Machine.”

Some highlights:

Patrick Stewart (Capt. Picard) and the cast from the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” TV show cast are back, this time with a new ship, the Enterprise-E. (The old Enterprise was destroyed in a crash-landing in the last “Star Trek” movie, “Generations,” in which Capt. Kirk died.)

The Borg - the half-human, half-machine race - are back, too, and want to invade Earth by traveling back in time before Starfleet existed.

Picard knows the Borg better than anyone, so, going against Starfleet orders, he takes off after them.

The godlike Q, played by John DeLancie, is also in the script, though a spokesman for Paramount Pictures, which is making the movie, said she couldn’t confirm he’ll make the movie’s final cut.
