Area Students Awarded Scholarships To WSU

Several area students received scholarships and awards to attend Washington State University.

Alana Tripp, a 1996 graduate of Medical Lake High School, was awarded a $3,500 Distinguished Multicultural Scholarship and a $1,015 Presidential Scholar in Residence Award room waiver. She is the daughter of Larry and Alna Tripp, Medical Lake.

Michael Van Houten, Shannon George, Dan Erickson, and Darren Flyckt each received $3,500 Glenn Terrell Distinguished Presidential Scholarships that are renewable for four years.

Van Houten, a 1996 graduate of Central Valley, is the son of Greg and Sarah Van Houten, Spokane. George, a 1996 graduate of Ferris High School, is the daughter of Kevin George and Elaine George, both of Spokane. Erickson, daughter of Norm and Gloria Erickson, LaCrosse, is a 1996 graduate of LaCrosse High School. Flyckt, a 1996 graduate of Jenkins High School, is the son of Darrel and Peggy Flyckt, Chewelah.

Malecka Nachtsheim, a 1996 graduate of Shadle Park, was awarded a $1,750 Multicultural Scholarship, renewable for four years. She is the daughter of George and Sandra Nachtsheim, Spokane.

The following students each received a $1,750 Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship, renewable for four years:

Kady Honeychurch, a 1996 graduate of University High School, is the daughter of Gary and Kelly Honeychurch, Veradale.

Sara Legerski, a 1996 graduate of Mead High School, is the daughter of Dick and Lois Legerski, Spokane.

Desiree Lockwood, the daughter of Nolan and Kathleen Lockwood, Veradale, is a 1996 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Amber Nick, daughter of Teddy and Lourdes Nick, Spokane, is a 1996 graduate of East Valley High School. Max Johnson, a 1996 graduate of Liberty High School, is the son of Neil and Gail Johnson, Spokane.

Thomas Carney, son of Tom and Debbie Carney, Spokane, is a 1993 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Hillary Hopkins, a 1996 graduate of Mead High School, is the daughter of Jim and Robyn Hopkins, Mead.

Thinh Vu and Damian Cronkhite each received a $1,015 Multicultural Scholar in Residence Award room waiver.

Vu, a 1996 graduate of Rogers High School, is the son of Cauh Vu and Lan Tran, Spokane.

Cronkhite, son of Fred and Bunny Cronkhite, Spokane, is a 1996 graduate of University High School.

The following students each received a $1,015 Presidential Scholar in Residence Award room waiver: Trish Schwartz, a 1996 graduate of Reardan High School, is the daughter of Stan and Jill Schwartz, Reardan.

Amy Bowley, daughter of Robert Bowley and Della Warner, both of Spokane, is a 1996 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

Shana Heaton, a 1996 gradaute of Tekoa High School, is the daughter of Gary and Salli Heaton, Tekoa.

Marcus Muzatko, son of David and Shiela Bauer, Mead, is a 1996 graduate of Mead High School.

Kevin Koller, a 1996 graduate of Ferris High School, is the son of Dave and Debi Koller, Spokane.

Jennifer Simonson, a 1996 graduate of Ritzville High School, is the daughter of Paul and Carol Simonson, Ritzville.

Kori McElvain, a 1996 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the daughter of Steve and Pat McElvain, Liberty Lake.
