Thief Picks On Mother Of Suspected Mob Boss

Compiled From Wire Services

A man was arrested Sunday after he took $90 from the 94-year-old mother of Vincent Gigante, the suspected boss of the Genovese organized crime family, police said.

Yolanda Gigante was walking through Greenwich Village on the arm of another son, the Rev. Louis R. Gigante, a Catholic priest, when a man snatched a wallet from her coat. As he ran off, a bystander flagged down police and the suspect was caught a few blocks away, police said. He was identified as Willy King, 37.

Vincent Gigante, 69, the reputed mob boss, is awaiting trial on murder and racketeering charges.
