Abc Reports On Latest Moves Against Aids

John Martin New York Times Syndicate

Barbara Walters looks for some good news to report on the war against AIDS in “Sex, Drugs and Consequences,” an hourlong ABC special at 8.

The “20/20” anchor is joined by actress Morgan Fairchild, football analyst Dan Dierdorf, ABC News medical editor Dr. Tim Johnson and reporters Robert Krulwich and Michel McQueen.

In the broadcast, which was unavailable for review, segment topics include profiles of medical staff members at New York City’s St. Vincent’s Hospital, the new “triple therapy” treatment, efforts at the Harvard AIDS Institute to develop an AIDS vaccine and the National Basketball Association’s role in educating players about the dangers as well as the myths of AIDS transmission.

Highlights

“Friends,” NBC at 8: The “Superbowl” episode, cut into two parts, concludes with Ross (David Schwimmer) finding Marcel making a movie in New York City. Julia Roberts, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Brooke Shields guest-star.

“The Show,” FOX at 8:30: The series ends a rather quiet run with Allison (Eliza Coyle) getting into trouble when she’s hired as a fashion consultant on “The Wilson Lee Show.”

“Seinfeld,” NBC at 9: When the season ended, George (Jason Alexander) was on the telephone trying to make a date with Marisa Tomei - before his dead fiancee Susan was even buried. Tonight’s hourlong repeat is the episode in which George heard secondhand that the Oscar-winning actress might want to go out with him.

“New York Undercover,” FOX at 9: The detectives (Malik Yoba, Michael DeLorenzo) go undercover in a Harlem high school as a teacher and janitor and find that there are guns everywhere. It’s another contemporary tale with a strong, pro-social message. Repeat.

“48 Hours,” CBS at 10: The newsmagazine takes on a subject of wide interest and often embarrassing passion. It’s a look at life in Little League baseball.
