Erickson, Ruff Help WSU Knock Off Arizona, End Skid

College women

Kristin Erickson and Jenni Ruff combined for 50 points as the Washington State women’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing skid with a 76-67 Pacific-10 Conference win over Arizona Thursday in Tucson, Ariz.

Erickson finished with a career-high 27 points, while Ruff tallied 23 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for WSU (16-10 overall, 7-8 Pac-10). Center Yvonne Kunze added 10 for WSU. Adia Barnes led the Wildcats (17-7 8-7) with 17 points.

In Tempe, Ariz., Molly Tuter had 18 points and 11 rebounds in leading the Sun Devils past the Huskies (14-12, 8-7).

Tuter, Arizona State’s leading scorer, had eight of her 13 first-half points to start a 23-6 run as the Sun Devils (7-17, 3-12) took a 36-26 lead with 2:33 left in the first half.

In other WCC tournament games, Pepperdine beat St. Mary’s 48-44, San Francisco dropped Loyola Marymount 65-35 and San Diego eliminated Santa Clara 68-57.
