Personal computers can now be found in 35 percent of the nation’s homes and online connections in 11 percent, according to a survey released Thursday.

They are most prevalent in homes where income is high and children are present, according to the biannual survey completed in January by Odyssey, a San Francisco-based technology research firm.

About 16 percent of homes where annual income is less than $30,000 have a PC. About 37 percent of homes where annual income is $30,000 to $50,000 have a PC and 62 percent of homes where income is even higher.

There’s a PC in 72 percent of homes where annual income exceeds $50,000 and children are present, a key group targeted by PC companies.

Last July, Odyssey found 32 percent of the nation’s 98 million households had a personal computer and 9 percent had an online service connection.
