Daughter Stabs Mother’s Attacker To Death

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 15-year-old girl who awoke to find her mother struggling with an intruder stabbed the man to death early Friday, police said.

“This is most families’ worst nightmare, I think,” said police Detective Derek Anderson.

Page Leroy Dukart, 34, died of several stab wounds in the back, a deputy medical examiner said.

The names of the woman and her daughter were withheld by police.

The family Rottweiler’s barking awoke the woman, who got up and found Dukart in the house. Dukart attacked the woman, and their loud struggle woke up the girl, who grabbed a knife from the kitchen, Anderson said.

The teenager stabbed the man, but he continued to attack the mother. The girl called 911, then returned and stabbed Dukart again.

Apparently finally realizing he was seriously wounded, Dukart left the house, Anderson said. He said the man crossed the street, where he collapsed and died in a neighbor’s driveway.

Dukart was spending the night with a neighbor. He had a history of arrests for crimes including burglary, assault and drunken driving. Anderson said there were indications Dukart had been drinking.

The mother was treated at a local hospital for head injuries and released.
