Eric Johnson Named Physician-Citizen Of Year

Dr. Eric Johnson has been named Physician-Citizen of the Year by the Spokane County Medical Society and the Spokane Chamber of Commerce for providing medical care to Central American children with congenital face abnormalities, and to children with heart disease in Ethiopia.

Johnson, an anesthesiologist who has practiced in Spokane for 15 years, has made 10 missions with Healing the Children.

He was also honored as a founding member of the Spokane Scholar’s Foundation which honors Spokane’s high school academic leaders.

Michelle Lee Cisneros, Spokane, recently received a bachelor of business administration degree with a major in finance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Pam Clarke was elected president of the Spokane Chapter of Washington State Quilters.

Other newly elected officers are Sandy McCauley, vice-president; Jana Whitfield, treasurer; Barbara Lambrecht, secretary; and Carlene Chase, quilt show chairwoman.

Dr. Deborah Harper, a pediatrician, was elected president of the Valley Hospital and Medical Center’s medical staff. She is the first woman president in the hospital’s 27-year history.

Dr. Douglas Norquist, orthopedic surgeon, was elected vice-president; and Dr. Phillip Woolf, family practitioner, secretary-treasurer.

Air Force Sr. Airman Carrie A. Hebert was named Airman of the Quarter at Altus Air Force Base, Okla., where she is stationed.

Hebert, daughter of Judy Lymon, Otis Orchards, and James Maxian, Spokane, was honored for exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities and significant self-improvement. She is a personnel journeyman.

John D. Sicilia has been promoted in the United States Army to the rank of major. Sicilia, operations officer with the 731st Military Intelligence Battalion at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, is a 1980 Mead High School graduate. He is also a graduate of Washington State University and Boston University.

He is the son of John and Lynda Sicilia, Colbert.

Jonathan P. Auld, Greenacres, was named to the Dean’s List at Lewis and Clark College, Portland. He is a senior majoring in biology.

Anne Purkey, Spokane, a sophomore at Scripps College, Claremont, Calif., made the fall semester Dean’s List.

A new chapter of the national honor society for community colleges, Phi Theta Kappa, accepted 132 Spokane Falls Community students into membership.

Chapter officers are Kelly Leigh, president; Debbie Spaulding, vice president; and Britta Hulbert, public relations.
