Trumpeter Swans Released At Refuge

From Staff And Wire Reports

Federal workers have released 25 trumpeter swans at the Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and hope the huge, graceful birds will make their summer home there.

The release is part of the Rocky Mountain Trumpeter Swan Recovery program, which moves trumpeters to more favorable southern wintering sites. Biologists hope to re-establish the birds’ historic nesting areas.
