If You’re Seeing Spots, It Might Be New Carwash

These carwashes are usually hard to miss.

The tall signs in front of Go Spot Go locations feature poles covered with dalmatian spots. The logo topping them is a dog that looks a lot like Petey from “The Little Rascals,” smiling from behind the wheel of a shiny red car.

The new Go Spot Go carwash under construction at 1226 S. Pines Road is about half complete, according to the company’s office manager, Vinnie Marotta. She said the business will open in early July.

She said the carwash will have six self-serve wash bays, and one automated bay and the rinse settings use demineralized water.

Marotta said that is pitched as a bonus for busy people who don’t want to towel dry their vehicles by hand. The process keeps mineral spots from forming on the vehicle’s finish.

The company currently operates three carwashes in Spokane. According to Marotta, there are also plans to open one in Coeur d’Alene this summer, and the company is also searching for another building site in North Spokane.

Convenience store to open

A new Conoco gas station and convenience store will open at 16th and University on May 15, said owner Rich Ford.

Ford said the $750,000 project will feature 24 fuel hoses. The station will offer diesel and various grades of unleaded gasoline.

The business will also sell hot dogs, nachos, pizza, soft-serve ice cream, frozen yogurt and espresso.

Ford this week sold the convenience store located next to where the Conoco is being built. The 7-Eleven was repurchased by the franchiser, Southland Corp.

Ford said the convenience store staff will follow him to the new Conoco station and two new positions will also be added.

He is leasing the space for his new 2,500-square-foot structure from landowner Darrell Easterly.

Vandervert Construction is constructing the building for Easterly.

Before opening the Conoco, Ford had owned and operated three 7-Eleven stores in the past 10 years.
