Associated Press

National League

Andres Galarraga, ending a brief but troublesome slump, hit a pair of three-run homers and tied his club record with seven runs batted in, powering Colorado to a 17-5 rout of the Florida Marlins on Saturday in Denver.

The Rockies tied club records in runs, hits (21), and homers (five) in a game as they won their third straight. Colorado hit three homers and scored seven runs in the first inning.

It was the most hits and runs allowed in a game by the Marlins.

The Rockies drew 48,101 and set a major-league record with their 66th consecutive sellout, bettering the mark of 65 set by Baltimore on April 20, 1993.

Mets 7, Cubs 3 Chicago

Jeff Kent hit a two-run homer and Butch Huskey drove in two runs to pace New York.

Bobby Jones (2-1) gave up six hits in 6 innings for the Mets, who won for the seventh time in 11 games.

Reds 9, Giants 7 San Francisco

Eric Davis hit a grand slam in the seventh to lead Cincinnati.

Eric Anthony homered twice for the Reds, who scored five runs in the seventh to overcome a 5-3 deficit.

Barry Bonds and Matt Williams both homered for the Giants, who hit four to raise their National League-leading total to 47. Bonds leads the N.L. with 13 homers.

Braves 6, Phillies 3 Atlanta

Mark Lemke’s two-out double in the eighth drove in the go-ahead run and Atlanta beat Philadelphia, snapping the Phillies’ three-game winning streak.

Pirates 7, Dodgers 2 Pittsburgh

Paul Wagner matched his career high with 11 strikeouts while pitching a five-hitter and Jeff King went 4 for 4 with four RBIs as Pittsburgh beat Los Angeles.

Wagner (4-2), whose 16 losses led all major-league starters last season, was overpowering for the fourth time in his six starts. He struck out the side twice while taking over the N.L. strikeouts lead with 52. He has 30 strikeouts in his last three starts.

Cardinals 4, Padres 3 San Diego

Todd Stottlemyre won for the first time in a month and Ron Gant homered for the first time in three weeks as St. Louis defeated San Diego.

The Cardinals won a day after ending their 15-game losing streak at Jack Murphy Stadium.

Expos 2, Asros 1 Houston

Henry Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning, rallying Montreal past Houston.

Houston took a 1-0 lead in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Brian Hunter, but the Expos came back against Xavier Hernandez.
