Irvin Offers Coke To Plant On Tape

Dallas Morning News

A man identified as Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin talks about buying and using cocaine in a hidden-camera investigation that KXAS-TV aired Monday night.

The station reported Irvin has bought cocaine three times since his April 1 indictment on drug charges in an unrelated case.

On videotape, the man identified as Irvin is heard offering cocaine to a man described only as “Dennis.” The station supplied Dennis with a hidden camera as part of its three-month investigation of Irvin.

Dennis declined the drug, saying the cocaine could stunt his growth.

“I already been stunted then,” the man identified as Irvin says with a chuckle as they sit in Dennis’ car. “If that’s the case, I should’ve been stunted a long time ago. I know my … (expletive) been stunted if that’s the case.

“Boy, I can’t wait to get me a line or three.”

Earlier Monday, Kevin Clancy, Irvin’s attorney, said he has prepared to subpoena all videotape, unedited and edited, related to the investigation. The subpoena will also ask for copies of any checks and the amount of any cash the station might have paid to Dennis, who the station says has been Irvin’s friend for three years.

What else, Clancy asked, would “induce him to do this kind of squalid work?”

“Michael denies what they’re saying is true,” Clancy said. “He’s saying it is not what they’re alleging it was.”

Monday night’s installment was the second in a five-part series.

The informant, whom Cowboys players and his former neighbors identified as Dennis Pedini, could not be reached for comment Monday.

In New York, the NFL said, “The entire matter remains under review. Beyond that, we have no comment at this time.”

Irving police said Monday they planned to investigate the matter as they would any other drug tip.
