Child Molester Faces New Charges 45-Year-Old Man Accused Of Assaulting Girlfriend’s Daughter

A convicted child molester once deemed a good candidate for a sex offender treatment program is back in jail on new charges, accused of raping his live-in girlfriend’s daughter.

Ronald R. Timm, 45, was charged in Spokane County District Court on Tuesday with one count each of first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation.

Timm was ordered held on $50,000 bond during a brief court appearance.

Authorities say Timm had sexual intercourse with the girl and fondled her in two different homes between June 1994 and December 1995, according to court documents charging him with the crimes.

The girl was between 3 and 5 years old at the time of the assaults, the documents state.

City sex crimes Detective Jerry Keller wrote in an affidavit the girl, who is now 6, told him Timm rubbed her private parts and molested her.

“The victim will testify that when the defendant was doing this, she felt bad and it hurt,” Keller said in the affidavit. “The victim told this detective that she was told not to tell anyone…”

The girl’s mother, who wasn’t identified, knew about the reported abuse and confronted Timm on more than one occasion, the detective wrote.

“The victim’s mother stated that the defendant would say over and over again that he was sorry and he did apologize to the 5-year-old victim, stating it would never happen again,” Keller said in the court documents.

The mother finally called police when the reported molestation continued.

Dottie Leavitt, a state Child Protective Services case worker, interviewed Timm about the abuse.

“The defendant admitted to Leavitt that he really screwed up this time and that he has hit bottom,” Keller said in the documents.

A medical examination of the child showed injuries consistent with the reported abuse, according to the documents.

Timm was convicted of similar crimes in 1989.

He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted first-degree statutory rape for fondling two girls - one of them 5, the other 6, according to court documents detailing that case.

Authorities felt Timm could be rehabilitated and a judge agreed to suspend four-fifths of his 30-month sentence if he enrolled in a two-year outpatient treatment program, the documents state.

“Both the defendant and the community will benefit from its use,” a sentencing report stated.

But Timm twice violated the conditions of his sentence.

In 1990, he admitted having sexual contact with a child under 18, according to the records. In 1991, he was caught frequenting parks where children played and lying about it, the records state.

He wound up serving all 30 months of his original sentence and was released from jail in January 1993.
