Taylor Charged In Car Accident

Compiled From Wire Services

Two weeks after being arrested on drug charges in South Carolina, former New York Giants star Lawrence Taylor has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license, the New Jersey State Police said.

Taylor crashed his car on Route 80 and was not seen for more than 5 hours after a passing motorist stopped to pick him up, the police said.

Trooper Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the state police, said Taylor, 37, never reported the accident.

Taylor told the trooper he had been traveling east when a vehicle cut him off, causing him to lose control of his 1996 Lexus and smash into the center divider, Della Fave said. Taylor said he had not been drinking or taking drugs before the crash and offered to take a Breathalyzer test, which he passed, Della Fave said.

Jim Miller was fired by the New Orleans Saints as the team’s vice president for administration.

The CFL’s Montreal Alouettes traded linebacker Reggie Givens to Saskatchewan in exchange for the rights to Tommie Frazier.
