Learn To Ride Your Mountain Bike Better

Here’s your chance to really learn to ride that mountain bike or to improve your skills. The Spokane Parks and Recreation Department is holding a teen mountain bike camp June 24-28.

During camp you will learn rules of the trail, how to ride responsibly, bike maintenance and safety. Each day the group heads out on a ride and learns to jump, bunny hop, climb and ride downhill. The camp is staffed by local, licensed mountain bike racers.

You provide your own bike and helmet, Parks and Rec provides a camp T-shirt, water bottle and instructors. Cost is $59. Call 625-6200 to register.

Get involved: The Spokane Mayor’s Office is looking for two teens to fill vacancies on the city’s Chase Youth Commission. Applicants must be high-school age and live in the city of Spokane.

The commission deals with a variety of issues concerning Spokane’s youth. It’s an opportunity to speak for your peers in a forum geared toward helping kids’ lives get better.

Applications are available at the mayor’s office, fifth floor of Spokane’s City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
