Couple Accused In Meth Case

From Staff And Wire Reports

A married couple accused of distributing large amounts of methamphetamine in three southwest Washington counties have been arrested, authorities said.

Jorge Luis Bustamante, 29, and his wife Carolyn Arleen Bustamante, 32, of Kelso, were both booked at the Lewis County Jail on the felony charge of conspiring to deliver a controlled substance.

The arrests were made last Thursday by Thurston County authorities but the two were jailed in Lewis County because most of the information investigators developed in the case came from sources in that county, said Detective Don Heinze of the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force.

The Bustamantes were released on their own recognizance the day after their arrest, jail records show.

Narcotics officers contend a drug-dealing ring that’s been operating for six months to a year in Cowlitz, Lewis and Thurston counties has been selling $500,000 to $750,000 worth of methamphetamine monthly.
