Gu Men Beat Alums; Women Not So Lucky

The Gonzaga University men opened the basketball season with a 97-82 win over the Old Dogs AAU, a team of Gonzaga alumni, but the women’s team saw the Gonzaga AAU Alumni outscore them 43-28 in the second half en route to an 80-65 defeat, Saturday at Gonzaga.

Lorenzo Rollins tossed in a game-high 22 points and Kevin Williams came off the bench to score 18 to lead the GU men. Kyle Dixon led the Old Dogs with 20 points.

Joy Pauley tallied 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor and grabbed nine rebounds to spark the women alums. Ivy Safranski added 19 points. Sandy Gere and Staci Andrews each had 20 for GU.
