‘On Short Leash,’ Myrick Returns To Nic
Shawn Myrick, booted off the North Idaho College men’s basketball team earlier this week for violating team rules, was permitted to rejoin NIC for a simple reason, coach Hugh Watson said.
“He didn’t have anywhere to go,” Watson said. “His parents kicked him out of the house. I didn’t want the kid to have nowhere to go.”
Myrick asked to rejoin the team. Cardinals’ players voted on Friday to allow Myrick’s return under more stringent conditions. The players then approached Watson.
“He’s on a short leash,” Watson said. “He’s a kid and we all make mistakes.”
Myrick, expected to be the starting off-guard, will be suspended for an unspecified amount of games.
