Plane Crash In Hawaii Kills All Five On Board

Associated Press

A twin-engine plane making a short hop between Hawaiian islands crashed into a ridge on the rugged east coast of Molokai, killing all five people on board, authorities said.

The Piper Seneca, making a 10-mile trip from Molokai to Maui, crashed Friday night and the wreckage was caught in a tree, making it hard to get to the victims, said Henry Lindo, deputy fire chief. A helicopter will be used to move the aircraft to a more secure site.

The victims were four men and one woman, but investigators had no other details on them or a possible cause.

The plane departed Molokai about 8 p.m. Friday, and about two hours later the Coast Guard received a signal from the plane’s emergency beacon transmitter.
