Art of the brush

A Sumi-e Oriental brush painting by Keiko Van Holt, a Spokane watercolor artist, was accepted into the regional juried show at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. The exhibit runs through Dec. 1.

In addition, Van Holt’s Oriental calligraphy of Kokoro (a heart) received the Uyehara International Associate Calligraphy Award in the annual juried show of the Sumi-E Society of America, exhibited in Toronto last October.

Sumi-e is the art of brush painting developed from ancient Chinese calligraphy.
