Man Stabbed In Face With Broken Bottle At Party

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 30-year-old woman for assault early Sunday after she allegedly stabbed a man in the face with a broken beer bottle.

Donna A. Sarratt was booked into the Spokane County Jail for second-degree assault. She is accused of stabbing a 30-year-old man during a party at an apartment in the 3000 block of South Wipple.

Witnesses at the party said Sarratt became disruptive and out of control about 5 a.m., broke an empty beer bottle and armed herself with a kitchen knife.

She walked into the living room with the broken bottle and knife held out in a threatening manner, said sheriff’s Lt. David Wiyrick.

The man, hands held up in front of him, tried to talk Sarratt into putting the weapons down, Wiyrick said.

Sarratt then cut him on the mouth and face, put the weapons down and left the apartment, Wiyrick said. The man’s injuries were not serious.

Deputies found Sarratt nearby and arrested her.

Man arrested on drug charges

A man wanted on seven warrants was arrested Sunday at a Valley motel on drug charges.

Dennis J. Dhaenens, 26, was jailed for possession of a controlled substance and the warrants.

Deputies, who were called to the Super 8 Motel at 2020 N. Argonne to investigate suspicious activity, found a vial they suspect contained methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Wiyrick said.

Someone called deputies about 4:30 p.m. when they saw four people unloading stereo equipment from a vehicle and shoving it into the motel room through a window.

Deputies found Dhaenens in another room, questioned him and arrested him.

Deputies determined the people moving the stereo equipment were supposed to be there, Wiyrick said.
