Amnesty International Officials Arrested

Compiled From Wire Services

Nigerian police arrested three Amnesty International officials in Lagos, Nigeria on Friday, the human rights organization said.

As Nigeria approached the first anniversary of the execution of author Ken Saro-Wiwa, Nigerian police also announced a dawn-to-dusk curfew in Rivers state, where Saro-Wiwa worked as an activist for Nigeria’s Ogoni minority.

Police arrested Patrice Vahard of the Ivory Coast and Eke Ubije and David Omounzuafo of Nigeria on their way to a diplomatic reception at a hotel in Lagos, Nigeria’s biggest city, the rights group said in a statement.
