Collectors Exceed Kokanee Egg Goals

From Staff And Wire Reports

Crews collecting kokanee salmon eggs at Lake Mary Ronan have exceeded their expectations for the second straight year.

So far, crews have collected 2.1 million eggs to raise at the state hatchery in Somers. The fish will be used to stock salmon waters statewide.

The goal was to collect 2 million eggs, said hatchery manager Stewart Kienow. Fish traps will remain in the water until the lake ices over, he said.
