Burgess Tells Of K2

Mountaineering

Three different trips to K2, the world’s second highest peak, will be detailed in a free slide show by world-class climber Adrian Burgess Thursday at Mountain Gear, 2002 N. Division.

Burgess, and his twin brother, Alan, made their first mark on Himalaya climbing peaks in 1973, when they drove a small van from their home in England to India. Their early career was characterized by a generally haphazard if not outright humorous approach to serious climbing goals.

The slide show should be similarly entertaining.

The climbing twins have made dozens of Himalayan expeditions to forge serious tracks in the sport of mountaineering.

Adrian, for example, climbed the west ridge of Everest in the middle of winter.
