Chiefs Fall To Swift Current In Overtime

Once again, overtime didn’t pay off for the Spokane Chiefs.

After rallying from a three-goal deficit against Swift Current, the Chiefs dropped Wednesday’s Western Hockey League game 5-4 when the Broncos’ Chris Szysky scored at 3:37 in overtime.

The loss dropped Spokane (13-8-2) to 1-2-2 in overtime games. Swift Current improved to 16-5-1, including 3-0-1 in OT games.

The Chiefs forced OT when John Cirjak scored at 15:58 of the third.

Szysky, in the slot, scored the game-winner from the left corner on an assist from Tyler Perry.

An overtime finish, however, seemed unlikely early. The Broncos scored three goals in the first 6:23 of the game.

Spokane plays at Lethbridge Friday night at 6 PST.
