Food Bank Needs 3,000 Frozen Turkeys

The Spokane Food Bank needs more than 3,000 frozen turkeys to fill out Thanksgiving baskets for needy families of Spokane.

Anyone wishing to donate a turkey can drop it off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on any weekday, at the Food Bank, 1234 W. Front. The turkeys must be frozen and in their original packaging.

The birds will be distributed to dozens of non-profit agencies that give away food baskets for the holidays, including the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Valley Food Bank, Harmon Community Center, Cheney Food Bank, the Greenhouse in Deer Park, City Gate, Better Living Center, Elk Food Bank, East S.N.A.P. Emergency Outlet, Medical Lake Food Bank, Manito Presbyterian Food Bank and the Mead-area Ecumenical Food Bank.

Families who need a Thanksgiving basket should call 534-6678 before Monday for a referral.
