Residents Asked To Uncover Hydrants

From Staff And Wire Reports

Snowplowing can solve one problem while creating another.

When the snow piles up on street corners, some fire hydrants become virtually buried in snowbanks.

“Every winter, we ask people if they have a fire hydrant in front of their house to do us and themselves a favor and dig it out,” said Kenny Gabriel of the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department.

Because of all the other chores that recent snowstorms have forced on residents, “they’re not giving much thought to fire hydrants,” Gabriel said.
