Boise Police Officers Injured In Explosion

Two Boise police officers were injured in an explosion that occurred while they were searching a truck late Thanksgiving night.

Lt. Tim Rosenvall said Officer Kristopher Ware suffered a hand injury and both he and Officer David Pogue were hit by particles. Their injuries were no believed to be life-threatening.

The incident occurred about 11:40 p.m. Thursday night in a North Curtis Road parking lot. The driver of the truck involved was taken into custody, but was not identified. Police said he was charged with driving without privileges.

While the officers were securing his pickup truck, they handled a small box in the truck’s bed. It exploded.

An agent from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was summoned. The Ada County sheriff’s office sent its special response team, including a bomb disposal trailer.
