Land Swap Proposed
State parks
A revamped proposal for exchanging property in Riverside State Park for a key private inholding at Mount Spokane State Park will be presented by the Washington State Parks Department at a public meeting Tuesday in Spokane.
The proposal is part of a long-range plan established in 1979 to consolidate land administered by the two parks. State Parks would like to trade 360 to 680 acres of land adjacent to the core of Riverside State Park for the 160-acre Quartz Mountain inholding at Mount Spokane.
The Gig Harbor-based investment company that owns Quartz Mountain is willing to trade for the Riverside property. The acreage involved depends on timber values on the Riverside parcels, parks officials said.
Quartz Mountain is in the heart of a prime recreation area for cross-country skiing, mountain biking, horse riding and huckleberry picking.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Spokane Falls Community College Student Union Building, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Dr.
