One Person Killed, One Injured When Truck Rolls

From Staff Reports

One person was killed and another is in critical condition after the pickup they were riding in early Saturday drove off a slushy roadway and rolled.

The driver, William S. Robertson, 29 of Deer Park, suffered head and internal injuries and had a broken pelvis. He was airlifted to Deaconess Medical Center where he died at 9:59 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.

Lescia I. Reid, 21, of Spokane, was listed in critical condition late Saturday at Deaconess, a nursing supervisor said. Reid was airlifted to the hospital with head and chest injuries, facial fractures and a broken pelvis and ribs, the WSP reported.

The 1972 Ford pickup both were riding in was headed northbound on Highway 395 when it crashed about 2:45 a.m. near Owens Road, troopers said. The truck rolled several times and came to a rest on its top.

Robertson and Reid were thrown from the truck.
