Wells Fargo Arrival Delayed

From Staff And Wire Reports

First Interstate Bank customers will have to wait another two weeks for the stagecoach.

Wells Fargo Bank, which bought First Interstate in April, has delayed the changeover of operations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho from Saturday until Nov. 9, spokesman Tom Unger said.

He said the postponement will allow bank employees to take a breather in a fast-paced conversion that already has swept through First Interstate’s 1,339 branches in Arizona, California and Nevada.

“They’re just moving at warp speed to do this,” Unger said.

Waiting until Nov. 9 also will allow the bank to take advantage of a three-day weekend, he said, noting that Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day.

First Interstate has 138 Washington branches, nine of those in Spokane. There are 33 in Idaho.

Unger said all are expected to remain open, although Wells Fargo may later reconfigure its branch system.
