Highway Workers To Evaluate Traffic
Idaho Department of Transportation workers will be stationed at various intersections along U.S. Highway 95 throughout the Lake City on Thursday and Friday as part of a traffic study.
The workers will be counting traffic and collecting other data between Ironwood Drive to Hayden Avenue. The data will be used by the University of Idaho’s traffic engineer staff to identify improvements for the computerized traffic system.
The traffic signals are tied to a computer system that determines traffic volumes and sets the timing of stop lights.
The Transportation Department also will use the data to find other ways to improve traffic flow on the busy road.
The $83,000 project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration, the Transportation Department and the UI.
