Dollar Loses Ground To Strong Mark

The dollar fell for the fifth straight day against the mark Thursday after German inflation data suggested Germany’s central bank may contemplate a rise in interest rates.

As the dollar fell through important technical levels against the mark more traders began selling dollars, further weakening the currency and raising skepticism about the dollar’s longerterm prospects.

Rebounding strength in the mark, an underlying theme in the foreignexchange market all week, also contributed to weakness in the yen, Swiss franc and British pound.
