Woman Reports Bank Bag Taken From Car At Red Light

From Staff And Wire Reports

A woman told police she was struck in the face and robbed Monday as she sat her in car at a north Spokane intersection.

The woman, who works at a downtown music store, said she stopped for a traffic light at Monroe and Boone about 1 p.m. when a man opened the unlocked passenger-side door.

The robber hit her, then grabbed for her purse and a Washington Trust bank bag that were sitting on the front seat, police said.

He fumbled the purse but got away with the bank bag containing some checks and cash. Police wouldn’t say how much money was stolen.

The robber then ran away.

The woman told police the bandit was white, in his 40s, with graying dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweater and dark trousers.
