Lightning Causes Minor Fires
An overnight lightning storm ignited more than two dozen small fires in Okanogan and Chelan counties, officials said Friday.
About 12 fires remained burning in the Wenatchee National Forest late Friday afternoon, most burning a quarter of an acre or less, said U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Robin DeMario.
The largest fire, about 20 miles northwest of Entiat, covered between one and five acres, she said. About 15 fires were spotted in the Okanogan National Forest, all of them small, fire dispatcher Steve Baumann said.
