Man Arrested After Car Accident

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 19-year-old Kent, Wash., man was arrested Saturday after allegedly fleeing the scene of a three-car accident in Post Falls.

Two people suffered minor injuries during the 4:15 p.m. accident, which happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90.

Wendel Canova-Medrano of Coeur d’Alene and Denise Cook of Livingston, Mont., both were treated and released at Kootenai Medical Center.

Suyatoslav V. Kuropyatnik was arrested on charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

The Idaho State Police said Kuropyatnik swerved into the path of Canova-Medrano’s 1990 Plymouth van, forcing her into the guardrail. After colliding with the guardrail, Canova-Medrano veered into the path of Cook’s 1990 Chevrolet pickup, the ISP said.

The impact caused Cook’s truck to roll several times, coming to rest on the shoulder.

Kuropyatnik fled though the Port of Entry at the state line, and was later arrested in Shoshone County, the ISP said. , DataTimes
