Housing Development Plans Face City Council Hearings

Two proposed South Side housing developments face appeal hearings before the Spokane City Council.

The council on Monday set a hearing for Oct. 21 on the Carousel Lane Neighborhood Association’s appeal of a proposed apartment complex.

Ron McCloskey wants to build four apartment buildings, totaling 48 units, and eight garage buildings with parking for 48 cars.

The property doesn’t have an address, but it’s located west of Cliff Place, east of the Indian Canyon driving range and south of the city water tanks.

The council also set a hearing for Oct. 7 on William Heiner’s appeal of a five-lot subdivision.

Clint Townsend wants to build a planned-unit development on property 140 feet south of the intersection of Elm Street and 12th Avenue.

In other business, the City Council on Monday:

Set a public hearing before the hearing examiner for Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at City Hall on a proposal to establish a local improvement district to pave, curb and add sidewalks to Crestline Street from Second to First avenues.

Set a public hearing before the hearing examiner for Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at City Hall to establish a local improvement district to pave, curb and add sidewalks to Madelia Street from Second to Pacific avenues.

Set a public hearing before the hearing examiner for Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. at City Hall to establish a local improvement district to pave, curb and add sidewalks to Madelia Street from Second to First avenues.

Approved the vacation of the alley between Fiske and Greene streets and Sprague and First avenues.

Approved property tax assessments for the paving of Ash Street from 16th to 17th avenues.

Approved property tax assessments for the work that paved, curbed and added sidewalks to 27th Avenue from Ray to Thor streets.
