Brush Fire Near Ellensburg Declared Under Control

Compiled From Wire Services

A 3,000-acre grass and brush fire seven miles northwest of town was controlled early Sunday, a state Department of Natural Resources official said.

The Crinklewood fire, reported at 11 a.m. Saturday, was contained at midnight and declared under control at 3 a.m., said Joe Willinsky, a fire coordinator at the Central Washington Interagency Communication Center.

No buildings burned, but a travel trailer may have been destroyed, he said.

Some 100 firefighters from the state agency, Kittitas and Chelan county and the U.S. Forest Service fought the fire, using 12 engines and four helicopters.
