Judge To Decide Soon On Downtown Mall Suit

A Spokane County Superior Court judge could decide Monday whether a lawsuit challenging the city of Spokane’s involvement in the proposed redevelopment of River Park Square will move forward.

Judge Kathleen O’Connor will hear a motion for summary judgment, which asks that the case be dismissed without a trial.

Attorney Steve Eugster, who is representing several different parties in the case against the city, will resist the motion.

Eugster sued the city, claiming its involvement in the proposed $100 million redevelopment project is illegal.

The redevelopment project would include a new Nordstrom store, 24-screen cinema, and other shops and restaurants.
