Seattle Duo Perform Tonight At Street Music

Don Adair Correspondent

Like salon music at its best, Street Music’s in-store concert series presents provocative music in an intimate setting.

In-store concerts fly in the face of the industry standard, where large and anonymous shows rule. Instead, in a small store such as Street Music, the performers are seen up close, and their music and personalities are allowed to fill the room. The music gets to stand on its own and the audience gains an unfiltered experience.

Of course, the other reality is that the musicians who play in tiny stores couldn’t sell out big halls if they had to. Tonight the Seattle duo of Mark Graham and Orville Johnson appear in concert at Street Music, playing the mix of country, blues and folk they call mongrel music.

Graham is one of the top country blues and folk harmonica players in the country, and his songwriting is considered the aural equivalent to Gary Larson’s outrageous “Far Side” cartoons.

Johnson is Graham’s guitar-playing counterpart. His mastery of blues, jazz, folk and ethnic styles have made him one of Seattle’s most in-demand studio musicians.

Graham and Johnson will perform at Street Music, 117 N. Howard, tonight at 8. Seating is limited, and the $10 tickets are available at Street Music.
