The Shocking Truth: Casinos Buy Defibrillators

Associated Press

Boyd Gaming Corp. says it plans to install 15 defibrillators made by a Washington state company to treat people who suffer cardiac arrest at its seven Las Vegas properties.

The company has begun training security guards in the use of the defibrillators, from Physio-Control Corporation of Redmond, Wash.

“We have hundreds of thousand of visitors to our properties every year,” said Boyd Gaming Senior Vice President Jim Hippler. “The addition of safety technology like the (defibrillators) demonstrates a commitment to make guests as secure and comfortable as possible.”

Boyd Gaming owns the Stardust and six other Las Vegas resorts.
