Dna Tests In Ramsey Case Begin Family Of Jonbenet Decline To Have Representative Present

Associated Press

DNA testing in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case began this week after her parents decided against sending their own expert to watch, a city spokeswoman said Thursday.

John and Patricia Ramsey were considering sending a representative to oversee the testing at the Germantown, Md., laboratory, but heir lawyers decided it was unnecessary.

The testing at Cellmark Diagnostics is expected to take six weeks.

Police still have not interviewed the Ramseys.

The two sides have not agreed on conditions for the questioning.

The 6-year-old beauty queen was found strangled in the basement of her home Dec. 26.

No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified.

“These kinds of cases take a long time,” city spokeswoman Leslie Aaholm said. “There’s a lot of material to go through.”
